First things first: I was lucky enough to spend 2 weeks travelling the Yucatan peninsula and Cozumel H2O was certainly one of the highlights.
It was not easy for them, though! a couple of days before the snorkeling trip I had booked I was contacted to let me know that weather conditions were looking grim, and it would be preferable to postpone the activity to another day to make sure we really enjoyed the snorkeling, since 3 of the 4 places would have too rough seas. This is a company which prefers putting honesty ahead of profit and that’s something I really appreciate when on holiday. Unfortunately we had a packed schedule and were not able to change dates, to which they answered that it was preferable to refund me the deposit I had already paid and cancel the rest of the payment rather than go through a disappointing day, but if I was interested they could offer me an introduction to scuba diving, which I had never tried despite having snorkelled since childhood.
It was a fantastic experience. Everything was perfectly explained and we knew what to expect from the diving, the regulator and the rest of the gear. I can’t go into all the details but it was one of the best experiences in my life and I am so happy they gave the the chance to do so. As it is, I would recommend anybody going to Cozumel to book both a snorkelling trip and an introduction to scuba diving. It might sound like it is a bit pricey but you will be very sorry if you don’t.
To all the staff at Cozumel H2O, thank you very much! Special thanks go to Loes for the organisation and to Ayelen for being our scuba teacher.

Wow! I had an amazing experience from start to finish. I approached Cozumel H2O based on the high TripAdvisor rating and I was not disappointed.
I received a prompt and thorough response to my initial email with plenty of information. Once I was ready to proceed I was asked to make a small deposit via PayPal to secure the booking. The instructions received were very clear in terms of how to get to the port, meeting time/location etc.
My ship had docked in the ‘downtown’ cruise terminal, the local taxis knew exactly where I was going (a lot of scuba/snorkelling tours use the ‘La Caleta’ port so the drivers go here frequently). It cost $10 to go from the downtown cruise terminal to La Caleta port, and only took about 10 minutes or so.
When I arrived I met Miguel who was loading up the boat and had equipment waiting for me (I had supplied sizing information in advance by email as requested). He was very friendly and asked me to sign the necessary paperwork prior to our departure. I met another couple from the USA who were diving as well, so there was 3 of us in addition to Miguel on this excursion.
Our boat left promptly and we got kitted up on the journey to the dive site. We were given a lot of choices of dive site and decided on two which would show us a lot of marine life. At the first site Miguel ran through some information before we went into the water and dived the first site.
The marine life was incredible! Miguel was fantastic in terms of allowing us to set our own pace and showing us the various fish and coral, including many fish, lobsters, even a large nurse shark! This was my first ‘warm water’ dive and we dived to around 20 metres for around one hour.
After the first dive we got back on the boat and we went to a small pier by the shore for our surface interval where we were given more bottles of water and fresh fruit. Afterwards we headed to the second dive site which again was utterly amazing in terms of the marine life, visibility and general experience.
Any time I ever come back to Cozumel I will be booking a dive with Cozumel H20 – I felt so at ease the whole day and it was the highlight of my cruise holiday. I highly recommend Cozumel H2O instead of the cruise-line shore excursions as the group size is smaller, you get more individual attention from the instructor and most importantly more time actually in the water diving!
Thank you Miguel and Loes, see you in a few months for my next visit!

Great communication and description of Snorkeling and Diving packages- Loes was thorough and kind. Our cruise ship ( Carnival Elation) was in port for only a short day. Took a taxi to the meeting spot. Miguel was waiting for us- Our a group included myself and my 3 sons ages 17 to 22. Once on the boat he suited us up with good quality gear and began teaching us what we needed to know – Miguel was very clear and thorough in our instructions- he explained the “why’s” of what we were learning- was very safety conscious. As this was our groups first diving experience our first reef was a shallow site- to practice all that we learned. My boys did great but I was very nervous- Miguel was unbelievably patient with me and very encouraging. The 3 spots he took us to were unbelievably gorgeous- on our time traveling from reef to reef he educated us on what we might see- sharks, barracuda, sea turtles- he showed us pictures and signs- we saw it all! The boat’s captain had fresh cut fruit and water waiting for us when we got out of the water. This truly was one of the highlights of our lives. Miguel and Loes are passionate about what they do- I highly recommend them. It was private no other groups around- that beautiful turquoise water- amazing sea life – it doesn’t get any better.

Booking online was easy and Loes answered any questions right away. She and partner, Miguel, are experienced and caring, about their clients and the environment. This is not a party boat, but a true snorkeling experience for those who are looking for time in the water, diverse locations, seeing different underwater sites and marine life. We went to 4 different locations, chosen for the conditions that day, making each site a good option. Loes was in the water with us at all times, finding and pointing out hard to find marine life, even a huge lobster scuttling along, a first for us. Water and snacks were available gratis. The boat is comfortable with shade and the captain, David, was very competent. This ranks as one of the best snorkeling tours in all our many worldwide previous ones. I would go with H2O again for sure.

We visited Cozumel the last week of January 2015 and this was our second time that we went on a snorkeling trip with Loes and Cozumel H2O. We were a little worried because we like to come into a trip with low to moderate expectations so that we are not disappointed and our trip last year was excellent. Well, this trip was even better!! We saw turtles, rays, many types of corals and so many different types of fishes in four different locations. Loes has an excellent eye for finding the marine live and has an enthusiastic attitude that is contagious!! I would give them 6 stars if possible. The only thing Loes could have done better was a have a little warmer weather but I guess she can’t control that! We will use them next time in Cozumel and we know we will have a great time!!

Our cruise ship (Carnival Paradise) was in port for only a day so we made arrangements to go diving with Cozumel H2O. The communication was great from the beginning (Loes got back to our emails within 1 day). Came off the cruise ship and walked about 20 mins to the meeting spot (or you can take a taxi for $9). Met up with our guide Miguel and another couple who was diving with us.
We went diving at two different spots for approximately 45 minutes (Punta Tunich… can’t remember the other one off the top of my head). Saw mooray eels, a nurse shark, gigantic lobsters, octopus, and tons of various fish. Miguel was an excellent guide – we were all fairly beginner divers and Miguel did a great job of making sure we were all comfortable in the water. When one diver was lower on oxygen than the rest of us, he shared his supply so we could all continue diving for a little longer, and when I was having trouble staying close to the sea floor without touching any of the coral, he linked arms with me so he had a little more control. He also made sure that people with cameras got great shots of the sea life and has an amazing eye for spotting or knowing where the sea creatures are.
In between dives, we had a selection of fruit (mango, cantaloupe, apples, kiwi etc) and water to drink/snack on.
Made it back with enough time to browse some of gift shops around the cruise terminal before heading back to the ship.
Thanks Miguel and Loes (and Chunnito) for a great dive!
PS: there is a deposit when making reservations. I think you also have to either pay ahead online (if you’re paying with paypal) or with cash – We just paid cash.
